GridKa School "make science && run"
August 28 - September 1, 2017, Karlsruhe

The  international GridKa School is one of the leading summer schools for advanced computing techniques. The school provides a forum for scientists and technology leaders, experts and novices to facilitate knowledge sharing and information exchange. The target audience are different groups like grid and cloud newbies, advanced users as well as administrators, graduate and PhD students. Organized by the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), GridKa School is hosted by Steinbuch Centre for Computing (SCC)

 

School Location

The school will take place at the Center for Advanced Technological and Environmental Training (FTU), Campus North, KIT. Campus North is located in Eggenstein-Leopoldshafen (about 12 km north of Karlsruhe). The school location will be connected with school hotel "Leonardo Hotel Karlsruhe" in Karlsruhe by a shuttle bus on each day during the school week. The bus timetable will be available shortly before the event.

 

Technical Program

The technical program covers the broad range of the dynamic research areas like:

  • automation and configuration management
  • big data analysis
  • cloud installation and administration
  • cloud services and applications
  • large scale data management
  • modern programming techniques
  • multi-core and GPU computing
  • (non-)relational databases
  • storage technologies
  • virtualization and containers
Half of the school consists of the expert talks, which cover the fundamental and theoretical aspects of the topics. While the other half consists of the hands-on sessions and workshops, which give the participants the excellent chance to gain the practical experience on techniques and tools.
